Product Development

Principal Software Engineer

Help make the world healthier! At OpenClinica you’ll build cutting edge web and mobile technology that accelerates medical research.

Join a small, highly experienced, thoroughly focused team within the company whose job is to get a brand new version of our research data capture platform to market using a microservices architecture, a SaaS delivery model, and open, modular APIs:

The majority of our code is open source, so you can build a public portfolio of your work and get to collaborate with lots of smart researcher/developersaround the world. We’re interviewing qualified candidates right away and the right person will get an offer very quickly.

Your top priorities will be:

  • Actively contribute to the OpenClinica v4 platform, architecture, infrastructure, and functionality.
  • Coordinate technical projects and lead architecture reviews.
  • Mentor other software engineers at all levels of their career.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience building Java & JS based applications using Spring & AngularJS.
  • 3+ years experience designing, building, and consuming REST APIs in a security-conscious environment.
  • Familiar with agile, git, cloud, docker and related infrastructure technologies.
  • Demonstrated success working in small and/or mid-size software development teams.
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • NodeJs and/or Meteor experience a plus.
  • Prior experience working with health care or life science software a plus.

 

User Experience Researcher

OpenClinica is looking for a User Experience Researcher to define, design, and test GREAT user experiences for using web and mobile technology in clinical research. You’ll work directly with our customers, community, and product team to engage and delight patients, healthcare providers, developers, and researchers. Here are some of the specific things you’ll be doing:

  • Conduct user research to understand user needs, environment and priorities, and communicate them to colleagues
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, and storyboards that reflect these needs
  • Facilitate group ideation and sketching workshops
  • Build low- to high-fidelity sketches, wireframes and prototypes to communicate design ideas and drive feature implementation
  • Assist product owners with breakdown of features and design concepts into user stories for implementation by the engineering team
  • Perform user testing on prototypes and released products to test hypotheses and iteratively improve our products
  • Mentor others in the company on approaches to and benefits of Design Thinking
  • Build a small (2-4 person) team of UX professionals within the company over the next 12-18 months (only if UX Lead)

Required skills and experience.

You might be a good candidate for this internship if you:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, Business or related disciplines
  • 1+ years of experience in UX Design or a related field (3+ if UX Lead)
  • Have the aptitude to understand complex, technical issues
  • Have excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Comfortable with UX ideation and design techniques
  • Experience observing users as part of field studies and evaluative testing

Business Analyst

As a Business Analyst you’ll work directly with OpenClinica’s Product Owners to shape a platform that engages patients, healthcare providers, developers, and researchers using mobile, wearable, and web technology. Here are some of the specific things you’ll be doing:

  • Learn users’ needs and clearly communicate them to our engineering teams
  • Author user stories defining how the product should behave.
  • Assist in developing wireframes and mockups.
  • Learn about agile behavior-driven software development practices
  • Learn about the field of clinical trials and how new therapies are developed

Client Services

Client Success Manager

The Customer Success Manager oversees see client accounts, proactively managing them for success with our products and services. Via a lot of direct (phone, email, and occasional face-to-face) interaction, you’ll be building strong relationships with our customers and helping ensure they get the most out of our products and services. You’ll be learning about our client’s research projects, and identifying ways we can best support them.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Keep the pulse on customer satisfaction via qualitative and quantitative measures, and communicate these to management
  • Serve as an escalation point/facilitator for high priority technical issues
  • Maintain accurate client account records
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities
  • Draft/process contract upgrades, renewals, and other documents
  • Work with professional services to help conceptualize new projects
  • Engage with internal resources from sales, support, engineering, and compliance as needed
  • Apply detailed product knowledge to recommend implementation approaches that best suit a specific clinical trial’s requirements.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of OpenClinica’s products and services, best practices, and implementation strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of our product roadmap, and communicate to clients as appropriate

Client Services Intern

OpenClinica develops software that accelerates healthcare innovation by increasing the productivity of clinical research. The OpenClinica Client Services team is offering paid internships to a select number of smart and technically inclined individuals who seek to acquire skills around implementing and supporting enterprise SaaS-based software.

As a Client Services Intern, you’ll be an integral member or our highly capable and fun Client Services team. You’ll get a chance to work with senior personnel and learn a lot about the inner workings of a vibrant company driving innovation in the life sciences. This is an excellent opportunity for a smart, highly motivated individual interested in accelerating their hands-on experience for a career in enterprise software.

We are particularly interested in hiring interns who have the potential to become full time team members.
