At OpenClinica, we publish a new blog most weeks. One of our favorite things to do is a mid-year checkup. In other words, which blogs were widely read, and which ones weren’t.
In the first six months of 2025, the top read OpenClinica blog highlighted the benefits of our EDC – it’s user-friendly and has established integration capabilities, satisfied customers, extensive partnerships, and strong support and pricing – and showcased our selection by the Everest Group as the leading Major Contender in the 2024 Life Sciences and Electronic Data Capture (EDC) Products PEAK Matrix Assessment.

As you might expect, our EHR-to-EDC blogs are well-read. Two blogs in the top 15 were:
- A blog that includes nine essential questions to ask when choosing an EHR-to-EDC solution
- A March 2025 blog with benefits and best practices for using EHR-to-EDC
Oncology Clinical Trials
Oncology clinical trials are another subject of interest to our readers. The third most read blog this year discusses the eight reasons why complex oncology clinical trials choose OpenClinica. In short, the OpenClinica platform enables cancer research teams to:
- Support complex study workflows and adaptive trial designs
- Recruit patients with highly specific eligibility criteria
- Automatically capture labs, medications, and other key types of data
- Track tumors over time
- Closely monitor patient safety
- Facilitate long term follow-up
- Meet regulatory requirements

Our readers also were keen to download our new oncology case study. The case study and the related blog detail OpenClinica’s work with Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative (QLHC) on the I-SPY 2 trial, an interventional, randomized adaptive platform for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
Patient Recruitment and Patient Engagement
Patient recruitment and patient engagement are also of interest to OpenClinica blog readers. The second most read blog discussed two OpenClinica Recruit case studies.
ICYMI, OpenClinica acquired BuildClinical in late 2024 to accelerate patient recruitment and enable clinical trials to get better data even faster with our integrated end-to-end technology solution. OpenClinica Recruit has a strong track record of success, enrolling 50,000+ participants in clinical research studies, while simultaneously accelerating enrollment timelines and reducing participant engagement costs, and recently expanded to the UK market.
Also in the top five was a blog about improving patient engagement in clinical trials. In the blog, Ben Baumann discusses patient survey results and details four ways to use technology to strengthen patient engagement.
Decentralized Clinical Trials
Speaking of patient engagement, another blog in the top 10 was one about how decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) improve patient engagement. In the blog, we discuss the seven hallmarks of a frictionless patient experience, including:
- User experience
- Automatic notification rules
- Multimedia content
Another well-read blog discussed the benefits of DCTs to sponsors and contract research organizations (CROs) and shared interesting insights into uptake by disease area and DCT tactic.
Rounding out the top 15 are blogs about registry studies, medical device trials and the use of legally authorized representative (LAR) consent to replace reams of paper in Alzheimer’s trials.
The OpenClinica blog is fully searchable and organized into 10 topic areas, including clinical trial technology, EHR-to-EDC | eSource, and industry trends. To get started, click here.
