Company joins SCDM eSource Implementation Consortium

Additionally, CEO Cal Collins will lead an educational session at the SCDM Annual Conference, October 8-11, 2023, in San Diego. Collins, a steering committee member of Vulcan, one of Health Level Seven’s (HL7) eight Fast Healthcare Interoperability (FHIR) Accelerators, is chairing the SCDM 2023 session, Are you ready for EHR eSource? Lessons from the field, October 11, 9:00-10:00 am Pacific. In the October 11 session, Collins and panelists will discuss experiences, strategies, and proven tactics around the successful adoption and scaling of eSource integration at clinical trial sites from multiple perspectives, with a focus on EHR-to-EDC.

The eSource Implementation Consortium (Consortium) comprises leading biopharmaceutical firms, academic medical centers, and healthcare technology providers with the vision of enabling a faster digital exchange of clinical research source data from academic medical sites to industry sponsors’ EDC/Clinical Data Management Systems (CDMS) to support faster decision making and improve patient safety. The Consortium seeks to streamline existing data transfer processes to free up site staff to focus on higher value patient touchpoints and bring efficiencies to sites.
For 25 years, SCDM’s Annual Conference has been at the forefront of clinical data excellence. More than 800 industry experts and clinical data science professionals are expected to attend SCDM 2023, the Festival of Clinical Data Science, October 8-11, in San Diego.
In June, Collins led an educational session at DIA 2023 that highlighted the tremendous impact of SMART on FHIR on the usefulness of real-world data. The theme of his DIA presentation was how SMART on FHIR improves the clinical workflow, enables clinical trials to integrate RWD in a non-disruptive way, and ultimately reduces burnout among clinical trial researchers.
